Notre-Dame de Paris Construction Site and Crafts House
The Notre-Dame de Paris Construction Site and Crafts House is a unique space designed to reveal the behind-the-scenes of one of the most ambitious restoration projects of our time. Located beneath the cathedral’s parvis, this 300 m² immersive exhibition invites visitors to explore the crafts, techniques, and challenges of the restoration through a scenography inspired by Notre-Dame’s north rose window.

From the entrance, a visual and sound fresco immerses visitors in the world of the construction site. The radiating petals of the rose window, each dedicated to a craft – wood, stone, metal, pigments –, guide the journey toward a symbolic core where the fire’s relics are displayed. Digital devices, augmented models, and craftspeople interviews offer an experience that is both sensory and informative.

The immersive film, screened at the beginning, traces the key stages of the project, from the fire to reconstruction, including securing and restoration. Visitors can then explore the craft islands, where tactile artifacts, interactive screens, and soundscapes reveal the secrets of the mobilized expertise.
