Landmarks, at the Museum of the History of Immigration
Permanence and mobility
Immigration is a phenomenon of population movements. It is a never-ending story. A priori a permanent exhibition seems to be contradictory with the very nature of immigration. So what can be considered as evolutionary in this permanent exhibition?
First of all, the content. For this, our intervention accompanies the evolution of the content by offering the change of the containers. The devices developed can generate multiple configurations. We invest the spaces of the East and South galleries with two main types of intervention: a new floor (false floor) and a set of boxes evoking containers.
To realize this project at the competition stage, we solicited the artist Eric Stephany to produce "Rumour (invisible monument)"
A common thread: testimonials
Just as we cannot talk about immigration without talking about emigration (Abdelmalek Sayad, in La Double Absence), it appears crucial to us to evoke the history of immigration through the stories told by the people concerned. The journey that we propose relates a common thread made up of testimonies from a multitude of people.
Each story is an additional piece to 'Les Repères'. These testimonies have a constant presence and accompany visitors throughout the exhibition. Their content and how they differ according to the themes addressed.
