Extension of Modern Art Museum of Ceret
The strong stone character of the site federates the structural heterogeneity of the constructions: it acts as a structuring binder. The outer walls of the extension are one with the urban fabric. Thick and plastered in a traditional manner, they give it a strong Catalan identity. In this very dense environment, the museum seemed somewhat overshadowed and lacking in legibility. A contemporary and more transparent order has been soberly interspersed within the mineral continuity of the façades. The museum's spaces are now visible from the Avenue Georges Clémenceau. The extension stands out and contributes to further highlighting the presence of art in the city. The principle of morphological diversity in the exhibition spaces has also been pursued in the extension so as to broaden what is intrinsically the museum's DNA.
