Social housing units in rue Nicolo
This operation, located in the heart of the La Muette district in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, may seem overloaded with constraints and standards to be respected. The constraints are indeed very numerous. However, it is a unique project that we hoped would be meaningful.
This project envisages urban continuity by means of free space and not exclusively through the environment that is being built. Its relationship with the street - a narrow passage - commited us to a strong interiority, offering each dwelling the possibility of living in a natural environment, without turning our backs on public space. Providing a maximum amount of open space on the plot, qualifying its entrance as being in continuity with the street, also meant allowing the distribution of housing to evolve over time, while complying with the OPAC Sustainable Development Charter. All these factors contribute to the compact development of this project.
The social housing project on rue Nicolo was cancelled in November 2011,
following an appeal by local residents.
