Story of a renaissance
Le musée de l'Homme
Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?
The inaugural exhibition at the Musée de l’Homme "Chroniques d'une rennaissance" (Story of a renaissance) is an intimate introspection in three parts, with the history of the museum since its closure in 2009, its origins and its collections, and finally, its history to come, in the form of an “alphabet” containing its future themes.
Each part is displayed in one of the three temporary exhibition rooms. The three sequences are staged in a clear and radical way, and each is based on an archetypal imaginary figure.
The first area, with its Calvinist inspiration, shows a long 30-metre table on which the architectural and staging project of the new museum is displayed.
The second space, inspired by Borges, is an evocation of the reserve spaces, where the volumetric framework leads off into infinity through the play of mirrors.
The last sequence is a Lewis Carroll garden, like in Alice in Wonderland, with giant and luminous letters all along the visit, and projecting the ABC of a possible future.
