Le Grand T“ Theatre
At the start, there is the competition.
Projectiles (architect co-contractor in the competition stage and Preliminary Project)
The team complementary and understanding of the challenges faced by the project management made it possible; to be the winner and, above all to rethink the site of the Rue du Général Buat in Nantes. The purposes of Music and Dance in Loire-Atlantique and the Grand T, open up to the new artistic, cultural, urban and civic practices of its time.
The body is everywhere; the project is total. It is a sizeable inhabited garden occupying the whole area. There is a project on all scales. A tablecloth of uses scatters throughout the public space. This project is not a simple architecture; instead, it is a permanent dance, with multiple and simultaneous conjugations. It is a place that unites desires and pleasures. It is a place of life and welcome for everyone, and not only for those who come to the theatre. In this garden, there are trees to be respected. The architecture is a canopy, made up of a series of roofs, whose wooden frames punctuate the space and dance with the trees. It houses the programme spread throughout the garden.
Then, comes the development, Projectiles takes over space design.
The small scale and the large scale link with a common denominator: the framework throughout the site to give rhythm and organises the space. It is the emerging part of this great "exquisite corpse".
A tablecloth of use is scattered throughout the garden, outside and inside. The furniture is singular and specific and, design the park. Like the architecture, it is anchored in the room here.
Part of this furniture integrates into the frame. Hanging from wooden posts or sliding in the gaps, hanging from beams or passing through the roof, the table is an extension of the architecture.
The bodies take over the public space. It is a permanent dance, a multiple and simultaneous conjugation. Crossing, sitting, discussing, sleeping, smelling, playing, reading, cheering, swinging, eating, drinking, smoking, climbing, lying down, observing, jumping, laughing, crying, stretching, running and, dancing.
Throughout the garden, the furniture invites you to move and postures of the body.
Movement is part of the furniture's DNA and makes it hybrid. The body is often in demand.
The furniture is the same outside and inside and creates a link and erases boundaries. It draws a family and is available everywhere.
The language is both rich and discreet; this hangs with its cables and nets. It turns and unhooks with removable gallows, placed here and there, on its strong legs in wood and lacquered aluminium. It is stable and light; a simple, unpretentious and unpretentious design.
The material is optimised—fineness and lightness, combined with robustness and mobility.
The family is large: swing seats, rocking benches, trampoline bench, climbing wall, basketball basket, portal benches, bleachers, tables and chairs.
A spiral staircase leading to a viewpoint above the roof structure and in the treetops, hanging chairs, a refreshment bar, a greenhouse, alcoves, reading huts, a vegetable garden, shelves, hammocks, tables and chairs.
It is a family that is looking forward to growing. Other uses, other ideas, according to your needs and the evolution of the project.
